Cots 4 Tots – A Charity That Helps Families With Neonatal Intensive Care
Cots for Tots offers accommodation close to the hospital for families with babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It is managed by the Great Appeal, the dedicated charity that helps Bristol Children’s Hospital. Abbey Silvester ran the AJ Bell Great Bristol Run in support of the Great Appeal.
It is best to move your child to a bed when they are ready. This can help prevent resentment toward their new sister. It also helps them to sleep better.
The Cots 4 Tots story
The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a non-profit organisation that helps to support the Marine Corps toy drive. It offers administrative, advisory, financial logistical and promotional assistance to local Toys for Tots Coordinators and various other services that the Marine Corps cannot provide. It also distributes educational and informational materials to the general public and arranges for national corporations to incorporate information about Toys for Tots into their paid advertisements, and also runs an annual public education program and publicity.
The Cots 4 Tots story began in 2010 with a fundraising appeal for Bristol’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St Michael’s Hospital. Since its founding, the charity has raised tens and thousands of pounds to help families of premature or sick babies in the West of England and South Wales. Its mission is to provide families with accommodation facilities as well as state-of-the art equipment for the NICU.
One of the main focuses is the Cots for Tots House, a cost-free “home from home” for families staying in the hospital. It is located near the NICU, allowing parents to be close to their babies. The charity has helped more than 2,100 families stay in the house since 2012.
Families who reside at Cots For Tots House are reassured they aren’t alone. They can share their experiences with other parents who are experiencing the exact thing. They also have access to a variety of facilities that will make their stay as comfortable as is possible.
The charity also funds a musician who visits the NICU in order to reduce stress and pain for both babies and parents. This has been proven to improve the quality of life of both patients and their families. Music therapy can also reduce the amount of medications needed to treat children, saving both time and money for hospitals. The therapist utilizes specially-designed instruments that resonate, which are tuned to specific frequencies. They play soothing tunes that soothe infants. The resonant musical instruments also soothe fathers and mothers.
The Cots 4 Tots website
The Cots 4 Tots website is the home of a unique charity that is raising funds for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael’s Hospital in Bristol. The charity is part of Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal, and it also funds Cots for Tots House which provides free home-from-home accommodation for families whose children have been treated at the neonatal intensive-care unit. The charity has assisted thousands over the past decade.
Abbey Silvester’s children Alfie and Mollie were in St Michael’s Hospital’s neonatal intensive unit. She says Cots for Tots was “an absolute Godsend”, and that her family and she wouldn’t be able to cope without it. “You meet new friends here, you build a community and love amongst each other,” said she. “Without it who knows what our lives would have been like.”
It is essential to make the right decision for your baby’s needs when choosing a crib. There are a range of sizes and styles which is why you should think about what you need long-term. A cot should be durable and have a good railing. It should also be easy clean and include an easily removable mattress. Some cots have a height-adjustable base, which is ideal for small children.
Moving can be stressful for everyone, but for new parents it’s even more stressful. They have to cope with a baby and all the additional issues that come with it. But, by making certain preparations, and hiring a car transport company in advance, you can ensure that your move is smooth.

It also gives them the chance to establish friendships with other families who are in the same situation and to help each other.
Natasha Attwood has a special relationship with the charity, as she stayed at the house along with her son Cobie and daughter Avalon. She describes it as “an absolute Godsend.” Her son and daughter are now well and healthy, but she still visits the hospital frequently and is very grateful to the team who looked after them.
